Midi Touch Control Gestures

With the 2.0 update, there are now a number of ‘gestures’ that can be used on controls.  First off, you can enable or disable gestures on individual controls from the editing window:

Gestures are on by default for new controls.

Depending on the type of control, there are different gestures available.

Rotary Knobs

  • Double Tap: Centre the knob (MIDI number 64)
  • Triple Tap: Set to maximum (MIDI number 128)

Sliders

  • Slide finger on rail: Fine tune value
  • Double Tap on rail: Set value instantly (slider jumps to position)

Drum Pads

When notes are assigned:

Depending on how you have the Drum Pads setup in Preferences -> Control Preferences, the Drum Pads will behave in two different ways:

  • Higher = Loudest: When in this mode, the higher you tap the drum pad the louder the velocity will be.
  • Middle = Loudest:  In this mode, the closer to the middle of the drum pad the louder the velocity will be.

When CC values are assigned:

  • Tapping and holding on the drum pad, then moving your finger up and down will send CC values according to the position of your finger.

XYZ Controllers

  • The Z axis of the XYZ control is activated when the finger is ‘down’ on the control.  To send out a variable Z message, use two fingers on the control and move up and down to control the value.
